Printing Guides and Care of Digital Negatives
Digital negative files purchased have been saved with the sRGB color profile in Adobe Photoshop CS5, in jpeg format. This is the color profile that most photo labs use. If you choose to print with someone other than Bits of Life Photos, I strongly recommend that you choose your lab with care, as this decision will effect the visual quality of your printed portraits. I print with a professional printing press and can order the high quality professionally printed portraits at reasonable prices. Most labs offer a choice between matte and glossy finishes. It is felt among photographers that matte finish looks much better for portraits. A matte finish also shows fingerprints and smudges far less than a gloss finish. My computer monitors are calibrated for the professional printing labs that I use. If you have the same digital negative file printed at several different printing labs, you will have several slightly (and sometimes severely) different prints in regards to quality, color, density, or cropping. Bits Of Life Photos is not responsible for the quality, color, density, or cropping of prints produced by the labs you choose when you are not printing with Bits Of Life Photos. Any questions regarding quality of prints and enlargements reproduced from these digital negative files should be directed to the printing lab you have chosen.

Bits Of Life Photos retains copyright of all images purchased. Your purchase includes a limited use license giving you permission for the sole purpose of reproducing as prints of these images for personal use only. No other products or novelty items are permitted to be created using these negatives without written consent. You may not alter the digital negatives in any form using technological means, unless cropping the images for prints. This includes, but is not limited to, sepias, black and whites, image borders, etc. Under no circumstances may these images, or products of the images, be used for profit, commercial endeavors, in competitions, professional display, or any other commercial purposes. These images, and products of the images, are for personal use only. Images displayed digitally on a computer, on the internet, or via email, must display my watermark. Bits Of Life Photos is not responsible for printing errors, or for the quality of prints not provided by my studio. If you are not satisfied with your lab’s prints I will be glad to recommend a lab to you.
Care of Digital Negatives
Please make at least one copy of your CD right away, and store it in a safe and secure location for archival purposes. I recommend that you save one copy at a location other than your home, in case of fire or other tragedy. Please also remember to make additional copies every year or so as technology evolves over time. I hope you enjoy your images by Bits Of Life Photos for many years to come.
